As an alumnus you are an important ambassador for Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. That’s because with your network, knowledge and experience you can help not only the university but also other alumni and students. By finding a work placement or a job, for instance. Conversely, you can also benefit from the VU alumni network if you are considering a new career move. After all, good references or contacts are hugely important when making a job application or looking for a new job.
What can I do?
There are various ways you can help out. To give a few examples, you could deliver a guest lecture, provide a masterclass for students, tell us about your career and coach students. Or share your ideas about the curriculum and how it connects to the professional world.
Perhaps the company where you work can offer work placements and job vacancies. By sharing these with us you can help students and other VU alumni. Or maybe you have your own ideas? We’ll be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. Contact the Alumni Relations department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What’s in it for me?
By actively supporting your degree programme or Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam you come into contact with current or former lecturers and other professionals in your specialist field. This helps you expand your professional (and personal) network and you keep abreast of the latest developments in your field. The university regularly organizes a range of alumni activities on the campus to bring together students, lecturers and alumni.
