IMABEE is a two-year research-oriented master programme for talented and motivated students who are interested in understanding biodiversity, ecology and evolution in all their facets. It is offered by a consortium of four European universities: University of Rennes (France), University of Göttingen (Germany), University of Aarhus (Denmark) and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
The aim of this Master programme is to train ecology students with particular emphasis on understanding the ecological and evolutionary processes which shape biodiversity in complex environments, and on the management of environmental resources, but with a broad enough background to ensure fruitful cooperation with specialists in other fields.
This is expected to yield a new generation of researchers in biodiversity, ecology and evolution that is able to contribute to a better understanding of biological resources in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in a truly integrated manner, and develop management tools for predicting and optimizing their exploitation. The successful graduation of the first IMABEE students, also at the partner universities, is a first step in this direction.
