The project “A new integrated approach for the sensitive and unambiguous detection of prohibited protein substances in biofluids” dr. Rob Haselberg is funded by the Word Anti Dopant Agency (WADA). He aims at the construction and application of a highly selective and generic analytical platform for the comprehensive characterization of protein doping compounds in athletes urine or blood.

The main objectives are:

  1. To combine immuno-based sample clean-up with ultra-sensitive capillary electrophoresis - mass spectrometry to specifically determine target proteins in biofluids without the need for analyte digestion;
  2. To obtain detailed information on target protein quantity and composition allowing accurate discrimination of banned protein species from endogenous proteins. Ultimate goal is to aid the fight against doping by achieving high-throughput and reliable assessment prohibited protein substances.
