Several lecture series and symposia are organized by the participating research institutes and research schools.

In addition to the lecture series ad hoc lectures are organized. They are announced on the News and Agenda (intranet) webpage of the faculty.

Nature of Life - The Nature of Life Meetings are organized by the Institute of Ecological Science (IEW).The lectures take place on every 2nd Tuesday of the month, always at 15:45 hrs, in the W&N building (De Boelelaan 1085) at VU University Amsterdam
IBGA minisymposia - The IGBA symposium is an informal gathering within geo- and bioarchaeological topics as well as further interdisciplinary approaches in archaeology.Every last Friday of the month, in the afternoon
Geoflex - The Geoflex lectures are open to all students. Students, former students, staff and international guests address various aspects of Earth Sciences and Earth and EconomicsThe lectures take place (almost) every Thursday afternoon at 16.00 in room F-123
The Institute for Environmental Studies organizes two lecture series: The EEE Research Colloquium and The Environmental Policy Speakers Series. The EEE Research Colloquium is a platform for lectures on the theory and applications of environmental economics.  
NSG - The annual NSG meetingThe annual NSG meeting takes place at the end of November.
SENSE - The annual SENSE meetingThe annual SENSE meeting takes places in November or December
